Bicycle tours

The fertile Sørdalen valley
The fertile Sørdalen valley

Our roads with little traffic make bicycle tours a pure delight!

On a tour to the neighbouring valley Sørdalen, you will discover many things along the road: Small rivers coming down from the hillsides, plenty of flowers, birch and pine forests, fields where cows graze, and above all – the steep mountainsides in Sørdalen.

Description

Starting point is the huskyfarm. The road winds slowly along the river towards the valley. Even though you have to push the pedals hard at times, you descend almost 306 yds before you reach the beginning of Sørdalen. In other words, it is mostly downhill cycling.

At the junction by the church, the road forks – north towards Setermoen and south towards Sørdalen.

Here cultivated land appears, which still nourishes several families. Nevertheless, you will see empty houses on both sides of the road.

After 17 miles you will reach the end of the road. Here the hiking trail starts; a tractor path that leads upward to the cabin Lappjordhytte that is found right above the timberline close to the Swedish border.

Today, however, we do not go hiking, but cycling. Therefore, we turn around here and continue our trip northwards.

In case you do not wish to cycle uphill to Innset, you can be picked up at the church, for example. For children, especially, it's often too hard to cycle back uphill to Innset.

Calculate about five hours for the whole trip – with children somewhat longer. To estimate time is difficult, especially for those who have a camera and an eye for the beauty even in little things along the road. They will need more time.
